1645-1660: Civil War to Commonwealth – a talk by John Brearley
Former teacher, John Brearley, is a popular and charismatic speaker on Local History topics across Berkshire. Accompanied by slides and music, John will talk about the Civil War and the Commonwealth period through to the restoration of the monarchy. During these years, the first Council of War was held in Reading, and Charles I was briefly held in captivity in Caversham, before his eventual execution. The talk is organised by Berkshire Family History Society.
