Getting started with DNA – a talk by Debbie Kennett
Debbie Kennett is an internationally recognised expert, speaker and writer on genetic genealogy.
DNA testing is now all the rage but what can you really learn from a DNA test? This talk provides an introduction to the use of DNA testing as a tool for family history research. The Y- chromosome test is widely used in surname projects and explores the direct male line. The mitochondrial DNA test follows the motherline. An autosomal DNA test can be used to find matches with genetic cousins on all your ancestral lines. The DNA databases are growing at a phenomenal rate and DNA testing now provides a new way of solving family mysteries and connecting with long lost cousins.
This talk is organised by Berkshire Family History Society.
