Non-stop family entertainment for all ages is planned for this year’s 22nd annual May Fayre on Monday, 1st May. Organised by the Wokingham Lions Club, it is believed to be the largest street fair in the south of England, attracting thousands of people on the day.
There are charity, craft and trade stalls, and a chance to win a prize at some competitions. Among the many activities this year are Punch and Judy shows, magic shows, a bouncy castle, animal farm, ferret racing, belly dancing, fun fair rides, hula hoop workshops and tea and cakes in a tea tent.
Proceeds from this year’s May Fayre will benefit three local charities. These include DrugFAM (professional support for families, friends and carers of those with drug and alcohol addictions), Building for the Future (support and therapy for children with disabilities and/or additional needs) and Berkshire Women’s Aid (help for victims of domestic abuse).
