The Dawn of Harmony
Newbury Chamber Choir’s concert showcases five megastar composers of the period, beginning with the renowned English composer John Dunstable (1390-1453). His work was widely performed on the continent and was very influential. One of those influenced was the young Burgundian Guillaume Dufay. The concert continues with works by Johannes Ockeghem and Jacob Obrecht and concludes with the soaring, shimmering brilliance of Josquin des Pres’ Missa Pange Lingua. The choir are joined by a period instrument ensemble for this fascinating journey through the music of the 15th century.
